This is a fantastic opportunity to take part in an interactive, dialogue-based event about real issues in stem cell research. You will take part in voting on a ‘Stem Cell Clinical Trial’ scenario at the beginning of this event. You will then watch film clips, hear from scientists, regulators and patients, and after giving you the opportunity to ask the questions you have always wanted to ask, you will be asked to vote again. Find out can umbilical cord blood stem cells be used to treat diseases like Parkinson’s Disease? Are these treatments safe? Why aren’t they available in Britain?
Facilitated by Quentin Cooper (Journalist & Presenter, BBC Radio), with Austin Smith (Wellcome Trust Centre for Stem Cell Research, University of Cambridge), Heather Cubie (NHS Lothian) and Alistair Newton (European Federation of Neurological Associations).
